Schuylkill County Workforce Development is financially supported by Team Pennsylvania, Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO), and the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce. Additional partners include: The Northeast Pennsylvania Manufacturers and Employers Association (MAEA), Schuylkill Intermediate Unit #29, and the Pennsylvania CareerLink and Partners.

The partnership has accepted a leadership role in coordinating business community support and participation in the Schuylkill School-to-Work program. The efforts of the group is focused on continuing and strengthening work-based activities such as job shadowing, speakers in the classroom and work site tours, while simultaneously marketing the program to employers to increase the pool of employers willing to provide work experiences for students.

Primary activities of the program include:

Job Shadowing - employers help students to choose a career by allowing them to spend a day in the workplace and observe a person in that field on the job.
Speakers in the Classroom - employees in various career fields share information about their job and the workplace by talking to students in local schools.
Work Site Tours - employers open their doors to students so that they can see that there are great career opportunities in Schuylkill County.

Additional activities of the program are:

Educator-in-the-Workplace -educators to tour business & industry facilities and to meet with you so that they can learn first-hand what skills students need to succeed in the workplace.
Internships/Cooperative Education - employers students the opportunity to apply their knowledge to the workplace during a longer term, paid or unpaid, work experience that includes real work assignments.
Apprenticeships - employers give students the opportunity to combine their education and work experience. Work-based skill development is coordinated with school-based curriculum, often in the content of "career majors". Apprenticeship programs lead to skill certification and a high school diploma.
Job/Career Fair Participant - Schuylkill County employers and educational providers participate in this annual event. It is open to the public and local school districts attend career-focused workshops and visit the exhibit booths
